ABOUT SANDY....

I am a long-time resident of Orlando, FL and have been employed for almost 30 years as a Compliance Officer & Financial Operations Manager at a Florida-based financial planning and brokerage company.

I learned my first line dance in 1994 when I reluctantly allowed my daughter to drag me off to a country bar one Saturday night.  To my surprise, I loved it immediately!   My only complaint was that I only learned three dances that night, and I had to spend the rest of the night sitting on a stool watching the fun.  Since then, I have done my best to spend the least possible time sitting on the sidelines!  I have also been blessed to have met and become friends with some of the world's most wonderful people on the dance floor!

I really enjoyed line dancing and attended many classes, but I never really planned to become a line dance teacher. However, at the urging of some of my dance class friends, I took the plunge with a small class in the Longwood area north of Orlando in 2003. I found that I really enjoyed it and the class has become a very important part of my life!

Around that same time, I also started going to Guyton Mundy's dance class in Orlando, FL and found him to be a very talented and gracious young man. He later asked me to join him in teaching a new class together. I was pleased and honored to do so and we held the class at DanceOrlando in Longwood for almost two years and then for several more months at Jesse Black's Saloon in Orlando. Guyton is now teaching at great dance events all over the world.

In 2006, I ventured out on my own with two classes a week in Altamonte Springs.  These classes are offered  for beginners to advanced dancers.  Around 2008,  Diane Petoskey joined me in teaching the class and our team teaching concept has enabled us to bring many more dances and much more energy to the classes!

I look forward to going to dance events as often as possible to meet new and old friends, and to learn all the newest dances.  Over the last several years, I have been invited to teach at some of those events and that has been a great pleasure for me.

My cherished family is composed of my daughter and son in law, and my two wonderful grandsons. My older grandson, Bradley has become a talented line dancer and has started teaching at some of the classes he attends.  He has also begun attending dance events and you may see him in line dance videos.    Parker, who is four, is our youngest and he is a perpetual motion machine!!  I am so proud of, and grateful for all of my "kids"!!
